BEML is engaged in the manufacturing of rail coaches, spare parts and mining equipment. Its products include defense ground support equipment such as tatra-based high mobility trucks, recovery vehicles, bridge systems, vehicles for missile projects, tank transportation trailers, milrail wagons, mine ploughs, crash fire tenders, snow cutters, aircraft towing tractors, and aircraft weapon loading trolleys; mining and construction equipment like bull dozers, excavators, dumpers, shovels, loaders, and motor graders; and rail and metro products such as rail coaches, metro cars, alternate current (AC) EMUs (electric multiple units), OHE (overhead electric) cars, and steel and aluminum wagons. BEML operates in India, Brazil and Indonesia. It is headquartered in Bengaluru, India and employs around 10,328 people. The company recorded revenues of INR29,036.7 million (approximately $483.2 million) in the fiscal year ended March 2014, an increase of 3.7% over 2013. The company's operating profit was INR1,207.1 million (approximately $20.1 million) in fiscal 2014, as compared to an operating profit of INR161.3 million (approximately $2.7 million) in 2013. Its net profit was INR61 million (approximately $1 million) in fiscal 2014, as compared to the net loss of INR832.9 million (approximately $13.9 million) in 2013.
